Global Quest Student Outreach
October 11-22

This October, thousands of high school students in south Sudan will be challenged with embracing "one thing" that can change their nation.

Several months ago, Uche Izoura began reaching out to high school students in the local areas around Yei, Sudan. Uche partnered with us a couple of years ago when we connected at a church missions conference in Georgia. Though the doors had opened for he and his family to live in the USA, Uche felt the call of God on his life to try to reach his own African peers. He and his wife moved back to Nigeria, then began helping us in south Sudan.

Uche could envision students coming to Christ. During his time at the Sudan for Christ base in Yei, he began targeting the local high schools students by starting Scripture Union clubs, something similar to a Bible club.

The time was right and the students open. Under Uche's leadership, students began responding to the regular evangelistic outreaches in the schools. In fact, within a short time, hundreds had come to Christ. One worker told me that his school was now like a Christian school, with many of the teachers and even the principal coming to Jesus. This is revival in the heart of man.

Taking it to the next level. October 11-22 we are holding our 1st ever student conference, challenging thousands of students to give it all as they purpose to make the "one thing" known across Sudan. An evangelistic Karate team is coming with us to minister in all the schools and help "draw in" as many students as possible.

Many of the students reached this October will be able to vote in the 2011 national elections which are crucial for south Sudan's stand against the Islamic north. You prayers are greatly valued!

Birth is an amazing thing. Yes, each of our kids births has been incredible, but I'm thinking about our pups at the moment. Looking like little rats when first born, they grow so quick.

Here's Sire, one of the ratskies that has grown in 5 months to a full sized, friendly, frisky dog.

Calling All for "The One Thing"

Mid October we are targeting thousands of students in south Sudan. The theme of this event is called "The One Thing"; as in, what's the one thing everyone needs to know? What's the one thing in life work living for? What's the one thing to focus on, etc., you get the point.

Our goal is to create the biggest buzz ever among the students, to inspire, challenge, train, and equip. . . think of it as Campus Crusade or some other major student org. comes to south Sudan to change the nation.

Students are the agents of change. If we can get them on board, we can impact the culture. For four days that week, teams will go into the schools holding student rallys. An American Karate team will display their skills, a brief message and challenge will follow, then each evening we'll hold a student conference challenging them to impact their families, schools, city, and culture for Christ.

Question? What does a cutting edge student movement in south Sudan look like?
In a technologically impoverished society, what's cutting edge?
Who are the major influencers?
What are the leading forces in their student culture?

How does The One Thing become their thing?

Kudzu: saint or sinner

While on our recent trip through the old south I was impressed with the amount of Kudzu that has taken over certain states. It covers everything. I do mean everything.

Like sin, it binds & covers every aspect of our lives. Even things you don't think it would stick to, Kudzu is tenacious. It inserts itself in areas it doesn't belong. Soon nothing but a mass of solid green is all that's left. Yes there is real life, true definition, and much more below the surface than what meets the eye, but kudzu covers all.

So what is it? Kudzu. A reminder of sin? Or a paradigm of grace.

I DON'T LIKE BEGGARS

I don't like beggars. Beggars make me feel uncomfortable. Am I supposed to give him something? Am I supposed to ignore them and hope they go away? Am I supposed to give them something more than money? I never know quite what to do. They invade my comfort zone. The look in their eye, the sign that they holdup, thousands of people have seen it already. I don't know if anyone else responded, but I tell myself that many did. In fact, I remind myself that some sneaky people make begging their profession, bringing in a 6 figure income. If I give to them, I'm supporting their evil plans in a sense. By not supporting them, I'm not only helping myself, but also helping others who might be duped by their sneaky ways. Everyone know that beggars don't pay taxes on the money they get.

We've all heard stories of beggars who drive nice cars, live in nice homes, and park away from their preferred begging spot, change into old clothes, then "go to work". In fact, my belief is that almost all beggars won't work for food. They want a handout. A free meal. Easy money. Etc.

I'm convinced I've made the right decision. In fact, I usually won't even look their way to acknowledge their lazy approach. I'll make them into a non-person. Surely that will teach them the value of a hard day's work and the evils of begging.

So I drive on. Immune. Untouched. Unscathed. And none the poorer. And I wonder to myself silently . . . "Did I do the right thing?"

I just got back from Sudan and had an incredible trip. Many pastors came plus there was a great turn out of people to hear the message that was shared. Had a wonderful time of Ministry with children they are in our school. Tomorrow, I will post pictures of some of the wonderful things that took place. I know you will enjoy it. listen
